Abstract:In this talk, we discuss the interior regularity of solutions to the first boundary value problem for the affine maximal surface equation. This equation arises as the Euler–Lagrange equation of the affine volume functional. It is a fourth-order PDE, can be formulated as a system of two second-order PDEs, one is the linearized Monge–Ampere equation and the other one is the standard Monge–Ampere equation. The study of the affine maximal surface equation is closely connected to the theory of the Monge–Amp`ere equation.
