Abstract: I will define an algebra for a connected simple graph, which is called the Terwilliger algebra, and consider the action of this algebra on the standard module. After discussing some basic properties of this module, I will show (i) the isomorphism class of a tree is determined by the action of the Terwilliger algebra on the standard module, (ii) the Terwilliger algebra is isomorphic to the centralizer algebra of the one-point stabilizer in the automorphism group of the tree.
