- Let $X$ bea compact Gromov-Hausdorff limit space of a collapsing sequence of compact apherical Sn$-manifolds SM is of Ricci curvature Sloperatorname {Ric} {M i) ge -(n-1)S andisiReifenberg point, or sectionany point in the Riemannian universal covering space of $Mal curvature Sisec {M i) ge -1S, respectively. We coniecture that if the fundamental group ofSM_is satisfies a certain property (e.g., nilpotent), then $XS isdiffeomorphicor homeomorphicto an aspherical manifold whose fundamental group satisfies the same property, respectively. Inthis talk, we will report recent progress on the conjecture; which verify the conjecture for nil-manifolds.
