Strang splitting is a classical second-order method for nonlinear Schrodinger equations. Its convergence order, however, doesnot describe how the error grows with time. Standard Gronwallarguments typically yield exponential upper bounds, whereas numerical experiments exhibit linear, quadratic, and exponential growth. This talk investigates the mechanisms behind thesedifferent behaviors for the periodic cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation. |
