Persistence of solitary waves in shallow water wave equations with nonlocal effects

Abstract:By using geometric singular perturbation theory, Abel integral and Melnikov method, solitary waves and periodic solutions in the shallow water wave equations are showed to persist under nonlocal perturbations. It is found that solitary waves will persist with the nonlocal perturbation, different from the local cases. Other interesting results, such asymptotic speed of waves, are also found.
